It was not part of the plan to stay at Kahuna during our trip to La Union. Well because Kahuna is a 4-star hotel/resort at the surfing capital of the North and with all that descriptions, you know that it comes with a price that was under the budget. But with a little help from our friends, we got 3 rooms for a night.
LOCATION
Kahuna Beach Resort & Spa is located along McArthur Highway, Brgy. UIrbiztondo, San Juan, La Union, a 6-8 hours drive from Manila. This Balinese inspired resort consist of several rooms and villa and has an easy access to the beach.
T h e R o o m
Surrounding the rooms were plants and trees that provides the rustic vibes despite modernity. It's one of the reason I think that it caught me drooling. I love spaces the has a touch of nature in it.
We got a room that was good for two persons. I found it too small for the price but nevertheless all the basic necessities were there. A small closet, a flat television, small table with chair, and a good view at the bathroom.

This is I guess was one of their edge to nearby resorts. Their overlooking pool. Most if not all of the resorts around doesn't have a pool. The pool is located beside the resort's bar and restaurant that make swimming feels awkward sometimes due to the lurking eyes. So we always check the restaurant if it's empty before taking a dip.
Best time for the dip is during sunset. Though didn't caught the color as it was cloudy during our stay.

Kahuna's restaurant is consists of large movable door that is used to be open that provides a pretty view of the ocean while you are eating.
Food was tasty though it comes with a price.

Forgot your swimwear or surfing gear? No worries, Kahuna has it's own shop. With different souvenirs to choose.

Kahuna along San Juan beach
Since San Juan is a surfing area, tides here are not for light swimming. The sand is a little cream to brown color.
Kahuna is a nice accommodation at San Juan. But if you intend to stay longer, I suggest to find a cheaper resort that can provide the same service. San Juan offers a vast of choices since over the years, it became a popular surfing destination. People come here not only to surf but also to chill, to eat and to party. They even became Instagram photo goal destination. Though if you really want a quiet vacation and a calm beach where you can swim, you can check nearby towns along La Union.
