COUCOU BAR & RESTAURANT | BANTAYAN

Updated: Sep 30, 2021

Coucou!

Bantayan Island was one of the cleanest Town I have ever seen so far in my life and has one of the clearest beach water. Although most of the visitors prefer to stay along Sta. Fe beach where most of the resorts locate, there were also hotels around the Town if you are not used of sleeping early since the Sta. Fe beach has no night life and no glowing lights at dark. There were bars and restaurants around the Town where you can hang out at night and the Town was actually around 10 mins from Sta. Fe beach. So on our second night at Bantayan (click Here to check where we stay) we decided to find a place to dine at Sta. Fe Town. And the Coucou Bar caught our attention because of the restaurant's ambiance. Although we saw it in a daylight, we thought that the evening light made the place nicer. But take note, it was just along the road and sometimes served as a parking space so it maybe not a good scene that you are eating just beside the cars once the place was crowded. It was a good picked that we came in dinner time when the place was still free from the others.

There were at least 5 tables inside a nipa hut-liked spaces and each table can accommodate 4-6 persons. A white curtain is placed in each corner that made the spot prettier while surrounded by different colors of dimmed lights. Although there were more tables inside the restaurant, those nipa tables were I think the eye catcher of the resto. Glad there were no crowd when we came so we freely had picked the said space. The tables were low and designed for an Indian sit position but it was comfy because it has a backrest.

We were expecting of more Filipino menu since we were in a remote area but we were surprised with a wide range of choices. We ordered banana and pineapple shake. For the meal, we ordered pesto and seafood pasta and a grilled squid.

The serving was big therefore I didn't finish my plate. Servings were good for two persons (the server said it was good for one). The pasta was fine and the squid was good. But the food took a little longer before it was served. Maybe because of the grilling?!

My Bantayan tanned skin. :)

We came out of the resto full and satisfied. Although we tried only 3 menus, I think it was safe enough to say that I would want to explore more of their meals next time I will land at Bantayan because definitely, it will never be the last that I will step foot in the Island. Oh by the way, I didn't mention that Coucou is a French word which means hi or hello! So if ever you see me there, don't be shy to say coucou to me.
