If there's one thing that traveling thought me, it is to never play favorites until you see everything. It is easy to fall in love in a place, but declaring as the top will make you inconsistent since they will always be replaced by your last experience. So if I fell in love with a place, I always refer them as one of my favorites because it is the safest thing to categorized them. But Punta Bulata is my different one. I'd been here year 2018 and was never the last resorts that I got to experienced yet it is still the number one in the list of my favorite resorts. After 3 years, it is still the reigning queen and i don't think it can ever be dethroned. <3
Location
Punta Bulata is hidden at Brgy. Elihan, Cauyan, Negros Occidental. Coming from Manila, we chose to land at Bacolod-Silay Airport. You can also opt to land in Dumaguete and go to Cauayan with almost the same travel time duration. From the airport, we took a taxi and asked the driver to bring us to Ceres South Terminal. When we arrived at the terminal, we found out that we need to wait for an hour for the next bus departure schedule and considering that the travel time to Cauayan will take 3-5 hours for a bus ride, we tried to find another way to get there in the soonest time. Fortunately, there was also a van going in the same route of the bus. The van terminal was located a few walks from the bus terminal. Pros, it was faster to get there in Punta Bulata since it has fewer passenger and it has no stop over. Cons, the fare was thrice of the bus. We opt to ride the latter and it took us almost 4 hours. Whew! It might took longer if we ride a bus. I know it was a long journey and I can virtually hear you asking me if it was worth it? Well, let me answer that in a while. And maybe if you see all the photos, you will answer it yourself. :)

If you had been following my blog, you'll might remember how much Bacolod had impressed me. I happened to see the City for several times and had loved my road trips here seeing some long stretch of sugar cane and a mountainous backdrop. I'm always so fascinated with mountain views, it is somehow gave me the feeling of peace and awe at the same time. But this was the first time that I got to experience the Southern part of Negros which is known for its white sand beaches. Sipalay is much known for the tourists than its neighbor town Cauayan but we opted to go to Cauayan because of Punta Bulata.
And as if the 1 hour plane ride and 4 hours of road trip was not yet enough, we waited for a trike to get us to the resort which was 3 kms from the road. And its not just the distance that I want to point out. It was the road itself. Going to the resort was quite an adventure. The road was rough and bumpy. My son got a little scared. Lol! What a ride!

We were greeted with a cold drinks and wet towels to freshen us up. We really need it considering our journey. The Resort was 3-storey building which was mostly made of woods including most of its furniture. It was facing the ocean and definitely such a treat to everyone who were tired from the travel. They also left the lobby windowless which was the best thing.

There were a lot of room options that the resort offers. I picked to stay on the Sea View with Terrace room at the ground floor. It was the only room that has the direct access to the pool. The room was spacious with a minimal furniture. It has a king size bed, flat TV, clothes hang area, sofa, an outdoor bathroom and a balcony. The room has signs of age though I'm not sure of how long the resort has been in operation. Though I didn't mind it, my only issue was the air conditioning unit which was not working good enough to cool the room especially on a day time where the sun was on its hottest.
The lower part was our room. Maybe not so appealing from this point of view but if you are inside that room, you'll be delighted to see what we always saw on that glass door during our whole stay.
The side entrance of the room.
I always love life size glass door especially if we have that great view outside.
Outdoor shower.
We got such a nice balcony that I didn't want to skip having it as my backdrop. :)
View from our balcony. Isn't it lovely?

Punta Bulata made sure you'll be confused to whether you'll be a pool or a beach person. The infinity pool was so perfect especially on sunset with the reflection of palm trees around. I can't even count how many photos I snapped on my phone in this spot when we were here.
I mean how can you not love it?
It was also Xander's fave spot.
And wait until it was sunset...
These palms.

The restaurant was located on the left side of the main building, a few walks from our room. It was like a big nipa shelter surrounded by trees and grass. I love the setting! It was also just a few steps from the beach. They even have a dining table and chair in the sand under a big tree if you opt to dine outside.
All woods set up and it was really lovely! The place was airy and comfortable.
Our accommodation came with a free breakfast. They have pancakes, cereals, soup, fruits, rice and Filipino viands. Not as many choices compared to a regular buffet but it was enough for us. Tasted good!
Your own dining spot haven.
Some of our favorite moments together happened here.
So magical at night.
One of the best pizza moment of mine. ^_^

It is always a treat for me to see a nature bloom in something developed and man made place. Well because it is easy to disregard it to be able to give way in a more income generating space. Like having more rooms or have the place concreted for better access and easy maintenance. With Bulata, modernity didn't compromise the nature. The place was surrounded by trees, plants, palms and grass. You can also see two main colors in the resort and they happened to be the 2 of my favorites, the blue and the green. You look at the sea and they are blue, then you look around and you will see green. Wow! Couldn't be more amazed!
Green were all over the place and it was such a dream!
Nipa cottages were put along the beach of the resort with complete set of table and chairs. Such a nice spot to chill.

And saving the best for last, let me virtually bring you to one my favorite beach view. It doesn't have a powdery sand like Boracay or a crystal clear water like Coron. Nor a big mountain backdrop of Zambales. It is just one of those in between. But what I loved about it was its solemnity. The long stretch of white sand with a stretch of mighty palms on the side. Bulata is a beachfront hotel yet they made sure they will provide you with a wide shore, their distance was good enough to make you feel that they didn't exist. Privacy was something I always take seriously. It felt like we were left in our own world every time we stroll the beach because it was always empty. Well it happened that we were here on an off season so there was only a few guests at that time but with the size of that beach, there will be a lot of space for everyone.
And who doesn't love these swaying palms? They made the beach looked more charming isn't it?
This was also the view we see everyday from our room.
It was low tide every morning so we have such a nice larger shore to stroll with.
Meantime, on the rights side of the beach.
Everyday of our stay had been nothing but a blast.
The front of the restaurant have these lazy bag lounger for a comfortable sunset watching. Such a nice spot for a drink and snacks while waiting for the sky to show off some beautiful colors.
At first it was a cotton candy sky. Until it became orange and gold. So perfect!
So lovely I am still in awe every time I see all these photos. And to think that these photos don't even justify how stunning was this place in person.
And that's it. If you think I shared too much photos, you'll be surprised how much photos that didn't make it here. Picking of the best photos that will make it to the blog is definitely one of the hardest part of sharing a travel stories.
Punta Bulata might not be the coziest and easiest resort to go with. Their rooms were quite old and the journey was long and a little difficult. But for me, I am willing to put myself on that little struggle again and again just to be here. It has one of the prettiest garden and one of the most stunning sunset I came to witness. Not to mention that their service was also the best. We were served with a local delicacies every night for free and my favorite was the freshly baked piyaya. The massage that we tried at Ayu Spa was also good and their food was excellent. The beach was lovely and clean. I never felt so home that it was so hard to leave. One of the best resort I experienced and I am glad that I found this gem in Negros.
Danjugan Island is also a few minutes boat ride from the resort. We went and we enjoyed it. Will blog it soon so stay tuned!.
