Puerto Galera is a first class municipality in Oriental Mindoro and has been one of the visited summer destination in Luzon because of its accessibility, white beaches and diving spots. On our department summer trip, the group decided to picked Puerto Galera for a 3 days stay.
Though I had been in Puerto Galera twice before this, I only stayed at White Beach which caters most of the tourism in the Island. This is where all the fun and night life happens, the Boracay of the CALABARZON. And yes, it is definitely has a white fine sand beach ( though unequal to the fine sand of Boracay). The Tita in me (lol) refused for the same vibes because it was too crowded and busy that was why we came into Squares Beach Front Apartment.
L O C A T I O N
Coming from the Metro or any nearby towns, most common point of entry to Puerto Galera is the Batangas Port/Pier in Batangas City. If you have a budget, and wanted to arrived just 2 hours from Manila, a plane is also available daily.
Thru ferry, if you're coming from Manila, buses are available to directly bring you to Batangas Port either from Cubao or Buendia bus stations. Fare was around P190 from Buendia per head for a 2-3 hours ride thru SLEX. Once arrived at Batangas Pier, you will be welcomed by a different ticket boots depending on your choice of entry. People will then approach you to offer some help, be selective to whom you will entertain because every help means money tip after. With a lot of windows and line in the ticketing windows, it really gets confusing sometimes so if you think you need help, you can definitely ask one. I suggest an advance research for your destination to come up ready. A terminal fee of P30.00 will be paid upon.
There are different ports in Puerto Galera. There will be Sabang, Balatero and Muelle Port. Take note that there is a P50.00 environmental fee for Balatero and Muelle Port upon arrival. Any port is accessible to anywhere you want to go in Puerto Galera as they are just a few kilometres from each other. But it is still important to know your chosen accommodation where it is best to land. One of the most used public transport around the island are tricycles and have a tendency to overpriced if you are coming on the opposite side of your destination. For the Squares Beachfront, Muelle port is the best option.
In our end since we brought a car, we used a Ro-ro thru Sabang port and took a drive along Calapan road to the Apartment. The drive from the port lasted for about 30 minutes. Squares Beachfront Apartment is located at Small Tabinay, Puerto Galera.
Squares Beachfront as what its name says is a beach front apartment. It was as if you have your own private beach though the shore was gray and full of stone and pebbles. Water was also clouded as it serves as docking area of small boats for those who wanted to do an Island hopping. They have a parking lot at the front for those who brought their own car.
A p a r t m e n t
The apartment building was composed of several doors facing the beach with their own balconies. There were also rooms inside the building in a dorm-style for a bigger group that has double deck beds. We took one apartment and dorm room that were both air-conditioned. The apartment has one bedroom with a living room and kitchen. The kitchen was equipped with cooking wares and utensils. Forgot to take photos of the inside, unfortunately. :(
At the common area inside the building were some entertainment stuff like books, dart boards, billiard table and other board games. It was just beside the bar where you can enjoy a cold drinks while playing.

We didn't tried to swim because it was either we were out or we were busy preparing our meals if we were in. But this view was definitely making everyday better.

My favorite part of the Apartment. It has a well maintained grass and beautiful plants and palms around. And with the overlooking sight of the sea, hanging around here was always delightful.

Squares Beachfront Apartment was a winner choice. The place was peaceful. It was also fortunate that the Apartment was not full during our stay, we were on our own a lot of times and occupied the whole space. The rate was way cheaper than the hotel and those accommodation at the center. They also offer and recommend tours and island hopping at Puerto Galera. If you're curious on the places around or need to buy something, the market was around 10 minutes drive while the famous White Beach was around 15-20 minutes from here.
